Professional matchmaking can sound simple from the outside: tell a matchmaker what you want, wait for introductions, and go on dates.
In practice, a thoughtful matchmaking process is much more personal than that.
At Love & Matchmaking, the goal is not to move through a predetermined stack of profiles or reach a quota of introductions. The work begins with understanding who you are, what kind of relationship could realistically fit your life, and what kind of person may be compatible with you. From there, the search can involve databases, recruiting, outreach, digital tools, personal networks, and continued refinement based on what we learn along the way.
Clients naturally want to know what that process means in real life. How many matches will I get? Are they all other paying clients? How far away will I have to travel? Where do the matches actually come from? And how long until I meet someone?
Those are exactly the questions worth asking.
This page answers those practical questions individually. For a complete stage-by-stage look at the journey—from consultation and mutual fit through profile development, personalized search, curated introductions, feedback, and refinement—explore how the elite matchmaking process works step by step.
There is no fixed limit to the number of introductions you may receive through Love & Matchmaking.
But there is a reason we do not lead with a number.
Our focus is on the "one," not the "ones."
A larger number of introductions does not automatically mean better matchmaking. Ten dates that are poorly aligned with your goals are not necessarily more useful than two thoughtful introductions that genuinely make sense.
Professional matchmaking should not feel like a volume business from the client’s perspective. The objective is not to keep filling your calendar.
The objective is to make each introduction worth considering.
That does not mean every match will produce chemistry, and it certainly does not mean every introduction becomes a relationship. People are people, and attraction cannot be manufactured on command.
What it does mean is that the search continues, the feedback matters, and the process can be refined rather than treated like a package of introductions that needs to be used up.
More dates are not the goal. The right date is.
No—and that is intentional.
Love & Matchmaking rarely limits the search to client-to-client matching because doing so would unnecessarily shrink the pool of potential introductions.
We sometimes describe the process as being "headhunters for love."
Think about how an executive recruiter works. If a company needs the right person for an important role, a good recruiter does not simply look through a folder of people who already hired the recruiting firm. They go looking for the person who fits.
Professional matchmaking can work much the same way.
Your potential match may already be part of our private Lovebase. They may enter our network through recruiting or outreach. They may be someone our team identifies specifically because of what we have learned about you.
The important question is not:
"Did this person pay to be here?"
The better question is:
"Why does my matchmaker believe we should meet?"
Matchmaker Insight:
A matchmaking database should be a starting point, not the boundary of your search.
There is no single source.
Love & Matchmaking uses what we describe internally as 32 different points of touch to identify potential introductions.
That can include our private Lovebase database, active recruiting, digital technology, personal and professional networks, direct outreach, real-world scouting, and other methods our matchmaking team believes are appropriate for a particular search.
Why so many?
Because the person who may be right for you is not necessarily sitting in a matchmaking database waiting to be found.
If we are searching for a particular combination of personality, lifestyle, relationship goals, geography, and compatibility, sometimes the right answer is to expand the search rather than compromise the match.
The search should adapt to the person. The person should not have to fit the search.
Not necessarily.
Our searches generally focus on roughly a two-hour radius from where you live or work.
That gives the matchmaking team enough flexibility to search meaningfully without assuming that a relationship should require impractical travel from the beginning.
Of course, every client is different. Geography may become narrower or broader depending on location, lifestyle, preferences, travel habits, and willingness to relocate or commute.
Someone in a major metropolitan area presents a different search from someone in a less densely populated region. Likewise, a person who travels often or divides time between multiple locations may have considerably more flexibility.
The point is not to draw an arbitrary circle around a ZIP code.
It is to ask:
What geographic search gives this particular person the best realistic opportunity to build a relationship?
There is no honest universal answer.
Location matters. Preferences matter. Relationship goals matter. The specificity of the search matters.
Love & Matchmaking works nationally, which means every search is different.
What we do not want to do is rush an introduction simply so we can say we produced one quickly.
We take the time necessary to search properly—but we also understand that you did not hire a matchmaker to wait forever.
The goal is not fastest possible.
It is as soon as we identify an introduction we genuinely believe is worth making.
Matchmaker Insight:
The first match should not be selected because the calendar says it is time. It should be selected because there is a reason for two people to meet.
You are not simply purchasing a certain number of dates.
You are hiring people to search.
To learn who you are. To identify possibilities. To recruit beyond an existing client list when appropriate. To consider geography realistically. To make introductions thoughtfully. And then to learn from what happens next.
Sometimes that process moves quickly. Sometimes finding an unusually specific person takes longer.
But the philosophy remains the same:
We are looking for the one—not trying to give you the most ones.
And that may be the simplest explanation of professional matchmaking there is.
How many matches do I get?
Do I have to travel outside my city?
Is everyone I meet also a paying client?
How do you find my dates?
How long until my first match?
